Maidwell Primary School - 2 places reopened for reception

Thanks to a couple of children's parents using this school as a safeguard against their private education, a very over subscribed school (10 places per year and 29 children had as first option and didn't get in) now finds itself in the crazy position of having two free places. The council will not contact those who had it as a first choice and didn't get in and the school has no details through the allocation system. Therefore if you know anyone who wanted it and didn't get in - tell them to contact the school ASAP. Two children will be missing out on the opportunity of a great little school and their parents won't even be aware!

The OP appears to have misunderstood how admissions work.

The LA will not contact everyone who had this school as first choice. They must contact the people in first and second place on the waiting list and offer the places to them. If they reject the places they will be offered to the people in third and fourth place. Naming a school as first choice does not get you any priority. So it is quite possible the people in first and second places did not have Maidwell as their first choice. There is no point in contacting the school about these places. The LA is the admission authority so the school cannot offer these places to anyone.

Northants dad, what year group are these two spaces in ?

A council that wont care..........surely not one like Northants found to be inadequate on every aspect of their inspection!

This is a zombie thread. The places mentioned by northantsdad will have been allocated long ago to the people in first and second place on the waiting list.

A council that wont care

For clarity, what the council won't care about is who had the school as first choice. By law that is irrelevant when allocating places on the waiting list.
