ICS Appeal

Hi all, I have my ICS appeal next Friday! Basically My daughter didn't get place by a whole 2m! My LA measures 'as the crow flies'. ...last time I checked humans didn't have wings! Anyway I know of a family whose twins got into the school (2meters closer) by the measurement 'as crow flies' yet she has to walk pretty much past my house to get there! My walking distance is a good 30m less! How can this even be allowed to happen!?
Any one offer advice?

There has to be a system and many LAs choose straight line distance because barring an occasional mistake on being measured from the wrong house etc, it tends to be much better at providing consistency. The alternative which is shortest route by recognised route tends to throw up many more issues that LAs find more difficult to argue against and cause lots of frustration at appeals.
I appreciate that it is a completely artificial distance but it is actually meaning that those pupils who live nearest the school do get offered a place.

Thanks for your comments. I feel a bit deflated if I'm honest. I have gone down the whole...have they measured my house correctly and that points are arbitrary to their location and inaccurate etc.... I have prepared to lose I just had a slight glimmer of hope someone would have some good information but from your messages I am almost certainly not going to win :-(. Its such a blow my daughters go to the nursery attached to the school and the elder one has been going their for 19months and thinks she is going to the school. I dont only have to move her away from all her friends who got into the school but I also have to resettle my other daughter into another nursery. We live 300m from the school and is our closest school by a long way and I am just baffled and absolutely distraught by the whole thing :-(
