Notice for changing schools

How many days notice is it polite/acceptable/necessary to give when changing schools? Have found a new school, unhappy with the old one and want to make the move swiftly. Is there any requirement?

If we are talking about state schools there is no requirement. You should tell them so that they don't treat it as unauthorised absence but you can give as little notice as you want.

Thanks, yes a state school. I thought no legal requirement as the head of the school we are moving too would have mentioned it.

How about for politeness or to give the teachers time to make a card?

What do you think is reasonable?
