Insect Day at school

Daisy and Leo had Insect Day today at school. Oh really, that sounds interesting. yes, it means they had a day off. ....... Hmmm (muses) oh, you mean INSET day darling. Laughed a lot :-)

Love the idea of Insect Day! :-) We could go bug hunting and sing "Head, thorax, abdomen, abdomen"

Ds (year 1) had an insect day last term at school. When they brought in various mini (and not so mini) beasts for them to observe for a day.

But when he saw it listed on the school calendar he was convinced it was an inset day. He'd just read it wrong. He was very disappointed (although he liked the insects).

There was a snail-racing after-school club at one of my dd's schools!
For any dcs interested in French AND bugs, a stick insect in French is called a 'phasme' ...

DD (Year 1) also told me quite earnestly this year that they are having bug day. Her school is always getting them to dress up for stuff at very short notice so I was half way to the Internet to start looking up costumes when I realised what she meant.
