Has anyone bought uniform yet for September?

I feel like I am the only one that has nothing sorted for September, we haven't had our info evening yet so I don't have a clue what I'm getting. I've also heard you need an appointment for clarks school shoe fittings is this correct? I don't want to be panicking last minute as we are going away in the six weeks holidays. When do we get chance to buy the items with the school logo? Do we order them at the info evening.

School logo stuff will depend on your school.

Yes, shoe shops are hell in late August, and some do use an appointment system. You could ask what your local one does next time you are passing.

I would imagine you could pop into the school office at anytime and order the logod stuff. I wouldnt do it too early because kids grow but also not too late just incase they dont hold stock at school and need to order it in, and you will want to pick it up before the end of term I imagine.

Look out to see if the school have a summer fete - sometimes secondhand/lost property is sold off cheaply at these. Great for spares.

Clarks - it helps to have a booking but you dont need to make one until the summer holidays and with the price of Clarks shoes I would suggest you make the appointment no more than 2 weeks before school start.

Sadly it seems buying generic uniform in supermarkets in August can be a problem because by then the school uniform floor space is staring to get filled with Xmas and halloween crap. Madness I know. Personally I still hang on as late as possible but I would say to be safe buy one lot by end of July to be sure you have some. Again - dont buy too much too early and leave as much as you can to later. Buying in June may seem sensbole to get the stock but its 3 months until the kids start wearing it and your child will grow. Also if you want it to last I always think its 6 months June to January - only 3 months Sept to January.

I always find John lewis and M&S (and other school suppliers) usually have big sales in September.

I've bought school trousers, shorts, pe shorts and socks from asda. Will get logoed polo shirts, sweatshirts and pe top at the open evening on Wednesday and will leave pumps and shoes til end if summer.

Ps I bought aged 4-5 which is the next size up for ds to allow for growing room ( he's small and only just 4).

I ordered school logo stuff as school warned about long lead times and got everything else apart from shoes on tesco clubcard vouchers. Shoes I want to wait until closer to the time so they actually fit.

Ds2 starts secondary school in September and we had the uniform list two weeks ago. We have an appointment for the blazer on 7th July and the uniform shop for the numerous pe kits in two weeks time. The rest of the uniform I can buy in John Lewis! Luckily my sister works there and im her named extra signatory.

Dd1 starts a new school in September too but we've not had the uniform list through yet. Im still undecided if dd2 will be starting the nursery at the same school yet.

I tend to buy school uniform for the September start of term around now-ish - M&S usually have a 20% off sale on, and their stuff is pretty good.

Logo's items via the school shop - I make sure the order is in before the end of term, DD1 (secondary) gets their uniform via TruTex and you can just buy it online.

Have just bought a load of stuff for now because 1) DD2 no longer wants to wear school gingham dresses (she's yr5) so has smart shorts instead, and 2) DD1 has outgrown her school trousers and blouses, she's shot up 4 inches in the last year, fiend that she is Grin.

I always buy before the end of the summer term when m&s have their offer and when the shops are full of stock so I can get exactly what I'm looking for. I just buy the next size from what my eldest has already and occasionally the next two sizes as he'll grow into it eventually.

I did last year! This year not so much of a rush as only shoes, trousers and bag needed, oh, and a new P.E. kit.
