Urgent! N19, NW1, Brecknock V Hargrave Park

Please help.

We have a school place for DC to start at Brecknock in September 2013. I have just received a phone call to say that DC has been offered a place at Hargrave Park, we must let the Borough know by 9am tomorrow morning if we should reject the Brecknock place and instead to take Hargrave Park. We know nothing about Hargrave Park, other than it has a "bulge" class. There is no time to arrange a visit, if only they could have given me a few days to decide!

I put DC on the waiting list for every school in the area as we didn't get any of our six choices, neither school is a local school.

The Ofsted for Hargrave is more recent than Brecknock, but I don't like the look of the Early Years provision, which is maybe better at Brecknock? Arghh!

We have taken Hargrave Park, it looks lovely :)

Glad that's worked out! Is it very far away for you (I note that you said it wasn't local)? That's pretty bad that you didn't get any of your 6 original choices. Were they Camden or Islington schools?

GreenEggsAndNaiceHam · 14/06/2013 15:43

It isn't a local school, I hadn't even heard of it till nlondondad said it was taking extra children. It will be easier to get to than some of the Camden schools as at least it's on a bus or tube route but it is walkable, just under a mile, keep us fit.

our nearest school is EP, so you see the problem! That and then 2 faith schools are our nearest.

Ah yes, the EP vicinity is really tricky isn't it. I can think of 1 of the faith schools (KT) not sure of the other one. That's great news that it's all sorted out. You must be very relieved. That's mad that you hardly get time to decide/research the offer (let alone visit the school!) - I guess that they have to work that fast at that stage.

GreenEggsAndNaiceHam · 14/06/2013 15:49

We had both Camden and Islington schools down on our list of 6. We weren't being unreasonable in our choices either.

It's a total minefield. Our school is lovely but I've always known that we'd need to move DS by the end of Year 2. Moving area just complicates that even more, but I guess we'll have the uncertainty and stress of trying to find a place for him whichever borough we are in. (Just realised that this comment is following on from our conversation in the other thread we were both just on, not just this one!).

GreenEggsAndNaiceHam · 14/06/2013 16:35

ha ha! But yes.

yes, KT and St P. T is next nearest I think but popular so we are out of the radius.

Still going to appeal but that is another thread...

When is the junior school to be completed?

Hargrave Park is a fantastic school going places. Brilliant head teacher and great staff.
