Hi. I am planning assemblies again; the theme for the next half term is 'hope'. Has anyone got any ideas for songs I can show on youtube, or hymns we can sing, suitable for primary?

Not sure if suitable but sprung to mind immediately:

Jesus bids us shine with a pure, clear light,
Like a little candle burning in the night
In this world of darkness, so we must shine-
You in your small corner and I in mine.

Lord of all hopefulness- also springs to mind.

Sing Hosanna....

Keep right on to the end of the road
Keep right on to the end
Though your something something something
And your heart be tired (maybe)
Keep right on round the bend
Though your're tired and weary
Keep marching on
'Till you come to your something or opther
Where all your love you've been dreaming of
Will the there, at the end of the road

Excuse the blanks, but its one I remember from school!

A bit more secular - "Somewhere over the Rainbow"?

Great ideas - off to find on youtube and copy links as intros for assemblies until July. Thank you all so much!

Lord Of All Hopefulness
Tune: Slane

Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy,
Whose trust, ever childlike, no cares could destroy,
Be there at our waking, and give us, we pray,
Your bliss in our hearts, Lord, at the break of the day.

Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith,
Whose strong hands were skilled at the plane and the lathe,
Be there at our labours, and give us, we pray,
Your strength in our hearts, Lord, at the noon of the day.

Lord of all kindliness, Lord of all grace,
Your hands swift to welcome, your arms to embrace,
Be there at our homing, and give us, we pray,
Your love in our hearts, Lord, at the eve of the day.

Lord of all gentleness, Lord of all calm,
Whose voice is contentment, whose presence is balm,
Be there at our sleeping, and give us, we pray,
Your peace in our hearts, Lord, at the end of the day.
