Does having a scribe/reader for SATs affect a child's marks?

Just wondering really.

Thanks.

What do you mean?

They don't lose marks for having them. I think If you have a scribe you get 2 (out of 3) for the handwriting part.

Clearly the child would be expected to get more marks then if they didn't have one....

No - scribes and readers are to make the tests accessible to children who are working at the level of the tests but need support to access them. For example a child who is physically unable to write might have a scribe who must write exactly as the pupil dictates (including punctuation and spelling as appropriate).

Ok, thanks.
