What tests do they have in year 2?

My daughter is currently sitting KS2 sats. She said she sat a maths paper today. Does anyone know how many tests will she have this week? She gets quite nervous about tests.

Year 2 or KS2?

Year 2
Maths
Reading task or test
Spelling
Writing a long and short piece

As mrz said. Ours are doing them this week. Did maths yesterday and spellings today.

We are doing them at the moment - on week 3 of 4. But they only do SATs in a morning, and only 1 morning a week, some will do 2 mornings (level 3s) and this week they will do all do 2.

We have had this plan of action:

week 1 - reading
week 2 - maths
week 3 - long writing; spelling
week 4 - short writing

The children kind of know they are doing something different to normal. But they are doing a lot more fun enrichment stuff too to counterbalance it and all seem fine about it. We do half the class at a time for various reasons - so the other half are in the enrichment - sport, art/craft, drama, needlework, ICT, increased outdoor time, etc.

My DD is loving them
Off with the teacher in small groups
Doing a SAT
Getting a sweet
Getting a longer playtime, she would do it all the time.

And when the teacher is off with another group a proportion of the class is missing so it is all very relaxed and easy!

What's the average level and sub level expected for end of y2? Is it 2b?

amidaiwish · 14/05/2013 18:34

Yes 2b from what I understand.
Only level 2 is broken down, so the marks go:
1 (under performing)
2c
2b
2a
3 (over performing)

Conversation with DD today (she's in y3, some friends have siblings in y6):
DD - I don't want to do SATs in Y6
Us - Why not? They're just like those special booklets you do sometimes
DD - Are they?! I want to go to y6 and do SATs

I guess it is partly on how a school sells things ...
She had no idea she did KS1 SATs, and we certainly never told her.
