Good schools in areas commutable for Glasgow/Edinburgh

We need to move to the Glasgow Area within the next few months. My spouse needs to be able to commute to Edinburgh so we are looking for good village type schools to facilitate us working in Edinburgh and Glasgow but having good nursery and primary school options for our children. A "countyish" / more rural setting is preferred.

Have you looked at Linlithgow? Closer to Edinburgh but still only around half hour train to Glasgow.

Just been looking at Linlithgow and Polmont...any suggestions on areas within these? What about good primary schools?

Linlithgow or Dunblane are your best bets for both primary and secondary schools. With plenty ruralish options. Be careful on boundaries for both however.
