I've just realised I missed the 1 May deadline for accepting a school place. I've been completely snowed with my son's draft Statement of SEN and getting that right that I completely forgot about 1 May. What happens when the response deadline is missed? The accept / reject function on the website is gone, so I can't do anything online. Now I've got another thing to worry about... ugh.

Telephone your local education authority school admissions department straight away.

It won't matter.

They have to give you a further deadline to accept by, if you haven't already.

Once the Statement is proposed, you name any school. You'd name that school so even if they'd given away his place, they would take him as an excepted child.

Yes, they are supposed to give you a second opportunity to accept (or reject) the place. Some LEAs can be a bit hasty, so ring them now just for your peace of mind.

The letter I received stated that if you need not send a reply then your child would remain on the admission list for the allocated school unless alternative arrangements had been made.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Rang them at 8am and they were very reassuring. An email out to them and the school sorted it out. Phew... now back to that draft statement...
