When do LEA's make decision on schools you get?

I was wondering exactly how far in advance the LEA's actually do their computer programme to decide which schools are allocated.

This doesn't affect me this year but it's awful to read of some children with no school places. Some of these LEA's seem to be unable to answer the question on where these children will go.

Do they literally not know what will happen until midnight before the results day?

Thankfully my area isn't too bad for primary school places at the moment but there is rising numbers.

They don't know till they receive the applications. Then there is the allocation period them parents are informed. So of course they know before results day but are not at liberty to say. These bay be all sorts of things going on behind the scenes, bulge classes, school expansions, school closures etc etc. Plus all the legality of school place allocation.

Its not straight forward
