Hi,

Have an application in for DD for September this year. Waiting to hear shortly. Since the application deadline a couple of circumstances have changed at our first choice school. It was a tough decision between first and second choice and now I am wondering if we have done the right thing.

If we are given our first choice school but are unhappy with this, what is the next stage? Do we go on a waiting list for second choice school if we ask?

Thanks

Yes you can apply to go on the waiting list for the second choice school.

Yes, you can ask to go on the waiting list for your second choice school. I'm afraid that is your only realistic option.

Please do not reject the first preference school because of the changed circumstances, you need to keep your options open and the best way forward is to accept whatever is offered to you in the way of a school and then get on the waiting list and possibly appeal for a place at our second preference school.
If you reject the place then the LA as the admission authority will eventually find you another place but it could be miles away and it could be a school that you do not want your child to attend.
