Ds is getting to grips with reading and I can see that when he enjoys a book, he is very eager to read ahead and see what happens.. The trouble is, and I know it sounds bad, he is a typical 'boy' - obsessed with super heroes, action, monsters - though we try to parent gender neutrally as much as poss and avoid violent tv, I don't know if its inate or learned from peers but this is who he is at the moment and where his interests lie!
Anyway, the problem we have is that he just finds a lot of books too boring! He's ok mostly when we read to him, but doing his own reading only really captures his interest on occasion. He's reading well for his age - (nearly 5) - very competent green level, possibly ready for orange.
The point is - I'm looking for book recommendations for him to read us that might interest him? And really have him WANT to read on to find out what happens? It's nt that the green books are too hard - really it's not, he didn't get a word wrong in his school one the other day. It's the subject matter I think.
Thanks :)
