Spelling help

We are moving back to the UK in May and DD(8) will be changing from the Dutch school system to English. Her English reading is fine, but she can sometimes be rather 'creative' with her spelling - she's taught herself to read and write in English which I think is great, but can anyone recommend ways/exercises to help with her spelling before she starts her new school?
