What do you want to know?

I'll be wanting to know that my son is doing ok in Literacy and where his weaknesses are so i can help at home. ( I think it's how slow he writes)
Same with Maths and Science.

I'll also be asking how his behaviour is generally....he has been a bit of a cheeky bugger at home recently.

Does this help?

Hi X2mum:

I agree with WowOoo but also in terms of Literacy/ Maths/ Science I'd also ask what his/ her predicted scores for KS1 SATs (which they take but also result from teacher assessments end of this year).

If you have behaviour worries then express that.

If your DC is telling you s/he is bored in class? work seems too easy/ too hard or that they are having difficulties with someone - that is always worth gently bringing up at the meeting.

I like to finish with is there anything you'd like us to be doing at home? This usually gives us something practical to get on with over the next few weeks (working on times tables, working on reading out loud, working on discussing what is happening in the story and/or talking about different endings or what might happen next).

HTH

Not communicating with parents isn't being a weak teacher. Not being able to teach children anything is being a weak teacher.
