Should I change my dd school

My dd is in reception class. In September she started at a school which we had not listed as a preference, she did not seem happy so when we were offered a place at our 2nd choice school ( which is just an infant school ) we moved her. A place has become available at our 1st choice school ( a primary so reception to yr 6). This is a very good school, good reputation and well resourced. She is very happy where she is, the school is great and she is doing well. The problem is that the jr school which her infant school feeds in to is not good. There are behaviour problems , ofstead not great and the head doesn't seem to have control of the problem pupils. So what should I do? Move her for the 3rd time in 6 months or keep her where she is and hope the jr school improves?

Personally, if she is happy I would keep her where she is and hope that a place comes up at first choice when she is older.

I'd move her, the younger they are the faster they integrate. If you want to move her anyway, you may as well do it now.
If you don't have a good option after year2 places at your first choice are going to be even harder to get.

I'd move her now rather than later.

My children went to an excellent infants with a junior school which had a very poor reputation. When it came to moving onto year 3, my head & heart was all over the place. We chose the attached junior school because by that point my eldest had formed strong friendship bonds.

With hindsight, I wish we had been brave & gone for an alternative school. DCs were happy enough but regrets, yes I've had a few!

Anything could happen before your daughter starts at the junior school. the HT could leave, results could improve etc, whereas the 1st choice school could end up in special measures.....Oh I'm not helping much am I? I guess I'm saying go with your gut instincts & don't feel guilty about anything. Youre doing your best as a parent after all.
