My ds1 (reception age) gets a subscription to reading eggs through his school, we've been using it for a few days and he really enjoys it

I am wondering if there is anyway to work out which levels on the maps he has completed, he tends to work through them himself and we both forget which number he is upto when we log back on

With the books it's easier as you can see the 'read' ones

Does it give the information anywhere? Could he not just tell you and you write it down?

Doesn't his avatar sit at the lesson he is on?

Where do you find the books?

retropops · 02/03/2013 23:07

No I've looked hence the post ;)

He could I guess yes but would be easier if there was somewhere in the site that showed which levels had been completed, he uses it at school/after school club/grandparents etc so not just at home. Other than me write it down and pass it to all involved just hoped I had missed something-do you use it and know of the program?

I don't wan him fed up if he is repeating levels

DS's love reading eggs. The avatar can only be moved forward as far as the lesson they have reached even if you have scrolled back to look at a previous map. When we log in the avatar is usually sitting on the spot for the next lesson. Also the numbered lessons on the maps are lit up differently on the completed lessons. Next to each lesson on the map is either an egg or a character/pet. These characters are supposed to help incentivise children to move on. If its an egg next to the lesson it's not yet completed also on the parents dashboard it tells you what number lesson they are on. Hope that helps.

That's brilliant thanks so much, it keeps starting at no 50 I just didn't think he'd got through that many levels.

When you start reading eggs it gives you a test to assess your current level, so if he knew any letters and sounds he would have started beyond lesson 1. Agree with the other posters who have said the avatar starts you where you left off and you can't jump ahead without completing lessons.

He has been using it at school, so he must have done the assessment already, we started at no 1 at home, but the avatar kept at no 50 so it all makes sense now, thanks for the advice it's amazing how much he takes in from each level
