Please help! Year 1 World Book Day book ideas

I am a new Year 1 teacher and just wondered if anyone has any ideas of a good book I could use with my class on World Book Day.

I need to be able to come up with a variety of actvities based on the book, culminating in the children producing a piece of writing by the end.

Any ideas would be gratefully received (very)!

Log in here (just your e-mail address) www.worldbookday.com/resources/schools/ and access oodles of ideas. There's bound to be something here that fits a book you have.

I have a list of children's book titles ready to print & cut up for charades if you think your class would like that - pm me.

Not a teacher but my DC loved 'The Giant Jam Sandwich' (John Vernon Lord and verses by Janet Burroway) when they were YR & into Y1.

Any others?

children in year one did The Gruffalo one year with their own Gruffalo descriptions as the written work.
This year reception is doing - Commotion in the Ocean and Year one - where the river meets the sea to tie in with environment week.
