I've been working fulltime until recently. Now I've a bit of time on my hands and with two children in primary school I thought I'd delve into the world of blogging, but I'm past finger foods and cup cakes and blogs where parents seem to be constantly patting each other on the back are a real turn off. I'm interested in politics, theatre, media and am slightly obsessed with my children's education - where are the blogs out there by mothers and writers and educators who's children are growing up fast and need more than what to do on a rainy idea suggestions?

Hi Milzy:

I'd recommend a daily newsletter on Mathematics (from primary up to secondary school age) called The Mathematics Daily: paper.li/NathalieFytrou/mathematics.

You sign up and it e-mails you when a new issue comes out.

It's an interesting mix of US/ French/ UK maths news - everything from debate on curriculum, ideas on how to teach concepts, interesting videos, etc... I've found things for now, things for later and things to help friends with younger children. It's wonderful to see what is possible and to celebrate good ideas.
