Artemis Fowl also travels in time in several of the books, however unless your DS has an Armani suit & a good Irish accent he may be more tricky as a dress up character

What about Henry from "The Time Traveller's Wife"? Possibly not on the reading list of your average Year 5 but it could be a refreshing change from a sea of Drs and Amy Ponds.
