Diss schools

My dc's and me will shortly be relocating to norfolk/Suffolk. I'm just narrowing down places to go and really like the look of Diss.

I'd love to hear some mumsneters views of the area, the schools (my children are 6 and 7 so I need to think about secondaries too), and travel prospects into London as I'll still have to work there once a week.

I'm also really nervous about not knowing anyone. I'm moving from cosmopolitan north London and I know it will take some adjustment but I'd love to hear from anyone who's made the move successfully.

It looks so gorgeous. Will the reality match up to it? Also suggestion of places to look for houses would be appreciated...

Thanks all.

I live in Diss! Ive got 2 boys...1 is 7(nearly 8) and the other is 2. Feel free to PM and will help as much as I can!

Which year will your 7 year old be? Are they just 7 or 7 nearly 8?

My husband works in London 3 days a week and does the commute in under 2 hours door to door if that helps at all?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

My 7 year old is in yr 2 at the mo and I think we'd have to try to move her and her brother (yr 1) just after Easter.

How does your husband find the travel to London? I'll be moving up here with my ex (together, separately) who will need to spend 3 days or so in London too.

How are the schools? From what I can see there are some really good options...

Once I get home from our weekend recce I'll pm you if that's ok? I'd love to know more.

We moved from south London to diss 5 years ago and we love it. Dd is in year 5 and she's extremely happy :)

Diss high school has a very good reputation (my bil is a head of year at a Norwich school and all say diss is very good).
