Do DC learn imperial measurements as well as metric

My DS is off ill at the moment. He is fine today but not able to return to school yet so he has been looking at the BBC bitesize site. He is Y3 and on the KS2 pages the measurement questions include imperial measurements, both inches and lb. I was quite surprised that it is not all just metric and was wondering whether both are actually on the curriculum.

Thanks

Bump
I have seen the other metric / imperial thread since posting this earlier but that doesn't actually answer the question as to whether both are covered in the primary curriculum. I realise that in real life they have to know both exist, in fact he asked me this evening how many metres there are in a mile

DS1 is in year 6 and his homework the other day was about metric and imperial units. Things like if you had to measure your hand, which imperial unit would you use, which metric unit.
