Ds (year R) swearing - WTD?

Ds (4 - in reception) said 'fucking hell' the other day! I was shocked and just ignored it as he said it when he didn't think I could hear. I didn't want to make an issue of it in case it's a one off, but I wondered what I should do if he says it again? Tell him never to say it, say its a bad word and not to say it in this house, ignore it? I know they do pick that sort of thing up but reception seems v young for that sort of language, or am I very naive? It is definitely school he's got it from.
Thanks!

I would just tell him it is a bad word first, no telling off because he might honestly think it is ok, then see if he says it again.

Either he knows it's wrong and does it for effect/attention, in which case ignoring would work, or he has picked it up and doesn't actually know.

The next time (or before) I would explain that some words aren't polite, so that you know he knows. And maybe mention that he would probably get in trouble for saying them at school (again so he knows). After that I would ignore unless it got really bad.

And unless he was swearing at someone

Thanks. I'll keep an ear out! I know it's school as another mum had a similar thing and went in to see the teachers about it. Is it usual for this age group then?

Problem is that although the child that is saying it is only in YR, they could have older siblings and/or live in a house where those phrases are heard repeatedly.
Many a time we have had to remind my FIL that even some of his tame language is not suitable for DCs to repeat and use at school. He forgets that he has even said it! I remember the DCs thinking that saying everyone was 'effing and jeffing' highly amusing.
