What is expected of a child, in order for them to reach the national average in yr2 sats?

The national average and the expected level are 2 different things.

The expected level by the end of yr2 is 2B.

reading- almost on chapter books but not quite
writing- be able to write a very short story that makes sense and is readable but will probably contain lots of spelling mistakes
maths- be able to add and substract 2 digit numbers, understand multiplication and division, know 2 and 10 times table, may know number bonds to 20

Oh I see. My ds teacher talked about 2b being the national average, perhaps I misunderstood. Also, what exactly would a child be expected to do in order to obtain a level 2b, in terms of numeracy and literacy etc. Thanks
