wwyd. Teacher forgetting a promise made.

Will be brief. DR has been lucky enough to be selected for school football team several times. She is year 6. Whilst in year 5, she was chosen for a tournament and then de-selected as it was purely for year 6. She was promised she would be first on the list when in year 6. Fair enough. However the tournament squad has been announced and she has not been picked. She is very upset. Particularly as a year 5 has been chosen.

Would you challenge the teacher on breaking a promise? It was made in my presence so no exaggerating on part of Dd. Thanks

Yes say something, may be a simple over sight and can be rectified.

No harm in mentioning it. Perhaps explain that your DD was hoping to be picked as she was told last year that she would be and is disappointed that she wasn't rather than challenging the broken promise specifically. Just to avoid too much confrontation where it's unnecessary.

Goodness I think breaking a promise is possibly pushing it a bit. A year ago your dd wasn't able to take part so teacher said we'll make sure you play next year when you are older as she was upset. She has perhaps forgotten? It may also be that your dd was not chosen for another reason. In your place I would ask the teacher and xplain that your dd thought she would definitely get palace because she was disappointed last year. There may be a way she can be included but I think the 'broken promises' line is slightly ridiculous a year after the event.

It is the same teacher. Small squad of children to pick from. I don't think it is on actually. It was a faithful promise to make up for being let down. Clearly I am not going to approach, the teacher ranting about broken promises. I have more sense then that. However I think he should explain why she wasn't selected this time to her. Be careful what you say and all that.

Teachers have to make hundreds of decisions every week regarding groups of children or individuals. Occasionally things are going to go wrong, so hopefully a gentle reminder is all that is required.
