Is it unusual to spell words like this?

DD age 6 is spelling words such as catch like "cach" fetch like "fech" patch like "pach" etc.. does anybody know if missing the "t" out is a common error at this age?

Very common IME. She is spelling them in a way that makes sense phonetically and so that is good.

She probably hasn't been taught that "ch" can be written yet.

I would just tell her that in those words the "ch" is spelt rather than let the incorrect spelling become ingrained.
