I am thinking of sending DD 8 and DS 6 next year.
I grew up in chester and it was considered a very good school is that still the case?

My husband went to Kings as a boy and still raves about it! They are still doing very well in the league tables and compared to the school fees that places charge here in the south, are very fairly priced too. Kings is a boys school tho - girls go to the Queens School that does even better in the league tables.

I live near Kings and my kids are at primary age. The general consensis amongst my group is that its 'not all that' any more.

People rave about the grammer schools on the Wirral.

Only if they get a place and if their child adapts to the ways of grammar schools!

I had a friend who worked there. He thought it was great - facilities, resources, staff and pupils.
