inset days / holidays

Can I ask how many inset days does your primary school have per year?
Ours has 8! Seems a lot...

Oh and I know they aren't holidays for the teachers ;-)
I was also going to ask how many weeks holiday your school has as it feels like ours increases every year (and it's getting ridiculous)..

I think there something like 14 weeks holiday in one school year and something like 12 inset days, normally attached to the beginning or end of the term

Ive never know school holidays to increase , they are the same as they have always been

There are 5 inset days a year. Teachers work 195 and children have 190 days

julesrose are you counting some of the bank holidays into that too?

Like MirandaWest said, children have 190 days. Teachers have to be in school for 195 days although many spend a good portion of their holidays there too

Look at your school year planner, the INSET days should be marked, if there are more than 5 I'd ask why.

I think there was some year here fairly recently when there were 6 INSET days for some good reason but can't Remember what that was.

There was an extra day added to introduce the new curriculum, which then never went ahead! Some schools kept the extra day as it had been advertised and there is always something that needs doing!

The Jubilee was an extra holiday too, but we were on half term. We were supposed to get it in lieu, but no-one knew when.

A local school here is having more than 5 days but they are called 'decant' days because of building work.

State schools only have 5 INSET days; is this a private school?

We have 5, 4 were in the same month!

State schools can only close for five INSET days each school year.
