We are looking to move into purley area to be near good schools for my son who starts in september. we have yet to put down our choices this week, we are looking at roads near beaumont, woodcote and hayes school, if we find somewhere in riddlesdown area then also possible ridgeway as that had a good reputation. does anyone know these schools personally? any personal experiences would be very helpful...thanks

I agree with Tiggytape. It would be hard to get a place in Purley for September unless you've moved by the application deadline, which is next week. Applications are based on current address the "catchment" distances are getting shorter and shorter. For all of the Sanderstead schools, it was less than .5 miles last year. The only exception might be if you're Catholic or CofE and looking at one of the religious schools, or if your son has special needs and you already live somewhere in Croydon. If you do a Mumsnet search on Croydon schools, you'll find some useful experiences from other Mums on the schools you're querying. HTH.
