Difference between bookbands

Dd is on band 12 (stages 12 and 13) grey, is there much difference between this band and the next one? band 13 (stages 13 and 14 I think?) blue? As in is it a big jump or not?

What sort of books is she reading, and why are you asking? I think by this stage it's the higher order skills they are improving and some of it depends on maturity and life experience in terms of relating the book to their life. Of course there is always new vocabularly and more difficult writing styles to negotiate too.
