Hi,

After coming across this forum I learnt of the 7+ exam and noticed that I am too late to apply to any school (all bar one). Feeling gutted as DD is really good in maths and english and I am sure she would have done well (lets not get too ahead of myself to say she would have passed!).

Anyway, I noticed that 7+ is for boys only...well about 95% of schools I have checked out is for boys....I am applying for schools in London and Berkshire and cannot believe that there is a lack of girls schools around. I have had to hunt down loads to see which ones I can at least apply to!

Do you know if schools offer 8+ exams? Some do but not all - really feeling gutted now and should have thought about it before. I was kind of hoping 11+ would have done the trick but never knew about 7+ exams!

regards

There a quite a few girls schools in Berkshire just they tend to use their own entrance assessment for year 3 not 7+. Though if you are looking I. London too maybe a bit further West than you have initially looked. Plus several of them go through to 18 so you won't see them listed for 11/13+.
I can think of four straight of the top if my head now.

Hi there, sorry you missed the cut-off date. Can I just ask a daft question? You do know that the 7+ is an exam to get into fee-paying schools, not like the 11+ to get into free grammar schools?

I know you can take 8, 10, 11, 13 plusses to get into fee-paying schools too, but just something about your OP - probably the fact that you hadn't been aware of the exam before - made me want to double-check. Even if your daughter passed, you would still have to pay (unless there was some amazing bursary maybe). So you may want to wait for the 11+ anyway.

Sorry if you knew all that and it's me who's getting confused!

Agree with pinkdelight, are you aware of the difference?
