Going to visit a possible private school for ds from 13+, the HT has said that ds would be welcome for the 'tour' but prefers to do the talk to me afterwards without ds there. Is this normal procedure? What sort of questions should I ask and expect the HT to ask me? New to this as ds only moved into the private system in Yr 5 (currently year 6). Current school have already been asked for a reference, application for full bursary is in and pre test is at beginning of January, which all feels pretty quick!

That's intriguing!

I would ask him, if he doesn't elaborate, why he wants to chat without your DS there.

I think what you ask depends most on what you hope your DS will gain from that particular school. Don't be afraid to ask critical questions.

May he want to talk about the bursary application? Which he wouldn't want to go with your ds there.

Thanks, re read the letter, think it may be because they specify that they don't interview the children, so that would explain it possibly.
