calculations meeting?

had letter home about calculations policy meeting?
Is this normal and proactive?
1st thourghts were ohh i wonder if half school doing kumon or other tutoring different to schools way.

Im curious so sending hubby to it.

I think it's to explain to parents what methods the school will be using so that any help parents give with homework will be using the same methods as at school, to ensure consistency and not to confuse the DC. I don't know about you, but number lines and partitioning were a completely new concept to me, and as for the grid method of multiplication...! Grin

Yes DS's school do maths evening for parents who will still be told by their DC 'no that's not the right way'.
