Big jump between purple/gold reading levels?

Just after some advice really as DD has been on purple for ages - well over a term. We have read all the books available at her level in the classroom as well as what we read independently at home and from the library. She reads and understands what she is reading when questioned but she remains on the purple level!

Is there a sort of ceiling after purple level as I notice that gold seems to be more chapter books - could this be why she's not being moved on a level? I don't want to bother the teacher and we've had no parents evening this term for me to check!

bother the teacher at pick up, why wait? if she can't/won't help talk to head of year or head teacher.

DD needs to be moved up if ready! if not gold level then perhaps something in between.

insist she's moved on, they must cater to her individual needs!

Ds2 started the year on purple for 3 weeks then moved onto gold, they are only slightly longer. It's not til white/lime that they become longer/completely tedious.

Not really. I'd get some slightly trickier ones out of the library and have a go. Around this time they can access a lot more books and I think I stopped thinking about levels as DS could cope with books from a certain section of the library- some he'd find very straightforward, others he'd struggle a bit. He's still on that section (it's basically for early readers 5-8 year olds) and there's plenty to choose from.

DS2 has just moved onto Gold, he was on purple for a couple of weeks before being moved on again.

He hasn't found it a massive jump - some books are a bit longer, but he is still comfortable with the language used.

We have just made that move and not much difference really, some new words he hasn't met before, very slightly longer.......my DS got moved by asking the teacher if he could read the gold books now as he was bored of purple. I was a bit shocked he asked but he was allowed to move (after the teacher listened to him read one).

DD is on gold. We had a non fiction book about bridges whoch was a bit technical at times but ok, some a fiction storywith tricky words (Guienevere etc) and then this. The last one I thought was a hell of a jump content wise, dd is six and knew nothing about WWII so lots of stopping and explaining gas masks and Anderson shelters. We were both in tears when (spoiler!!) the cat and old lady died.

DD is on gold. She's turned 5 in August and, as littleducks said, some of the books are not really appropriate for her. DD currently comes home with gold, purple and turquoise books, depending on what she wants to read that evening and I'm happy with that.

I haven't found a particularly big jump between purple and gold, other than what I posted above.
