I don't love it but it is worth £6. I find it a little 'dry' and cluncky.

There is a area called 'live mathletics' where you do mental
Maths against people all over the world.

For £6 a year it probably is worth it. The live bit is the best part of it for a struggling child, purely because it makes them so enthusiastic about practising their number bonds. The rest of it is ok, but nothing special imo.

It might have changed since DS used it but there never used to be explainations on how to do the math, just tests.

Fuzzymum1 · 14/11/2012 09:46

My Y1 DS has just started using it and loves it. He's keen on maths though so maybe that is why, I'm not sure it would be particularly appealing to a child that doesn't like maths - though it has been widely popular at school maybe because of the awards they can gain. For £6 I would definitely go for it, at £39 I probably wouldn't.

I've just had a look at their website and it says £39 - are you using a discount code or something?

flowery · 14/11/2012 10:08

DS1 loves it, as do most of his classmates. They've all come on leaps and bounds with their maths, it really encourages them to learn, totally worth it imo.

SavoyCabbage · 14/11/2012 10:36

If you buy it through your school, you get the schools price adeu, that's what ours do.

The live mathletics is great and has just been expanded to include harder stuff. It's not great for teaching how to do something, but for practice of concepts it's great. I am a head of maths in a prep school and we also get our parents to pay for it.

They have just released an ipad version, so if you have an ipad your child can do it on that as well.

What is it exactly? I got a note in YrR DD1's bag last week to say they were doing it today and tomorrow and to go to the site to practise. We did the exercises but not sure what the whole thing's about.

£6 is a bargain. My Y6 G&T ds loves it, school having just managed to arrange a 1 month free trial for all the children in the school and I was just thinking we'd have to grit teeth and pay the £39 when that was over so I'd bite your arm off to do it for £6 Grin
