Wimbledon Common Preparatory School seem to have had a huge turn around. There is a link to the recent inspection report on their website.
A very impressive transformation !!

And here was I thinking Ofsted were now inspecting small, furry animals ...

Mrsrobertduvallsaysboo · 09/11/2012 13:58

Are you the head? Grin

there used to be a very shouty teacher there who was quite nasty to the boys...I was a visitor in the school and was appalled.

twinklering · 14/11/2012 08:27

That would be quite a good idea........but no I'm not the Head but am certainly very interested in seeing schools improve and change for the better.. Good that the 'shouty' teacher is gone..horrid when you see that.

The recent inspection was conducted by the ISI (Independent School Inspectorate), the two previous inspections were conducted by OFSTED.

Since the last OFSTED inspection a few years ago, a new Head Teacher has been appointed, Mrs Tracey Buck. She has instigated a transformation in the premises, overseen an almost complete change in the staff and introduced a number of reforms including a much greater involvement of parents in all aspects of school life.

The ISI inspection report can be found here;

PS: I am not the Head either!

Have reported message to Mumsnet for misleading title, this has nthing to do with squirrels

funkyenya · 25/11/2012 19:41

The new Head is amazing and the school seems so lovely now - completely transformed as others have already said. Congratulations to them on all they have achieved in such a short time.

Dozer · 25/11/2012 19:55

Never visited the school, but isi isn't properly independent, it's bound to be more positive than ofsted, doesn't show a "turnaround" to bring in another inspectorate!

twinklering · 25/11/2012 23:27

Maybe it would be wise to have visited before making such a statement. I believe Squirrels was required to be a part of the independent schools system now they are owned by Kings College. What an ungracious comment when people have clearly worked so very hard to improve what seems to have been a shocking school. Tut tut...

Grin at reporting misleading thread title to MN

sagandswing · 25/11/2012 23:36

Must admit the title made me very curious Grin, quite a head turner!

pinkdelight · 26/11/2012 09:04

ISI reports are invariably more glowing than ofsted ime. Can't think why...

Common · 05/12/2012 08:31

Dozer, perhaps if you read the two previous OFSTED reports and visited the school you would see the very real changes and improvements?

Read the web link to the ISI report shown above and see precisely why the school received an 'outstanding' evaluation. Look at the calibre of the inspectors and read other reports that they have written and you will see that ISI most certainly is 'independent'?

Common · 05/12/2012 08:35

pinkdelight, the quality of OFSTED reports has been shown to vary greatly and if you want to know about ISI reports read some of the others written by the inspectors who visited WCPS?

The names of the inspectors are in the report and you can read other reports that they have written on the web.

Should you do so you will know they are quite able to be scathing when standards are not acceptable and have been more than willing to put that in writing.

twinklering · 06/12/2012 20:02

Well said Common...It seems very sad that people who don't know a school are so willing to pick and poke at a group of committed professional workers who have clearly worked like troupers to give their boys the very best..They have turned around an ancient and almost 'failing' school. Not an easy task.

Well done to them all I say !!!
