Seeking books about animals for 9 year old boy. Thought of Black Brauty & Watrahip Down (two crucial keys are broken & it is not auto-correcting!) but would those be too advanced? Thank you!

You might try the Redwall books by Brian Jacques.
Black Beauty might be a bit advanced as might Watership Down.
Can he free read The Wind in the Willows-never fails with dc of any age.
He might manage War Horse too.

DS enjoyed the Humphrey Hamster books.

And some book by Roddy Doyle about a dog.
