I know ive posted about SATs before but some advice at this stage please

I know my little girl is behind but just wondering how bad it is at this stage of the year to be at 1c in year two, is it a big problem or not too bad? Red band stage 2 on ORT. I just keep thinking maybe she will get better but school dont seem to be concerned they just keep saying she will get it eventually and she tries. I know she might but I do worry (its my job :) ) We have tried speaking with the headteacher as there are other issues to but it feels like hes just not interested, she is under camhs as well but only just about to have our second appointment so nothing decided yet as to what the problem is

Just to add shes also on phase 3 phonics her teacher said shes doing good on that phase but phase 4 is too above her level and shes not ready to move up yet

Phase 4 is only phase 2 & 3 sounds in words with 2 consonants at the beginning or end not rocket science. See how she copes sounding out words like stop and sand ...

She can sound out some words like stop, sand would be hit and miss as to whether she said a b or d at the end.

Her teacher just said she can't put her on phase 4 as the pace is too fast for her and she's not confident enough on phase 3

I hate those stupid phases and the way some teachers are so hung up on them children aren't progressing ... sorry for the rant but it's shocking that Y2 children are still being left to plod on with reception year work!

Thanks for your help mrz just felt quite fed up tonight, im not as concerned at the phase in phonics as I am with her level of 1c, she reached this level in march and I know they've had summer hols but I just worry. Its like her numbers she's fine with 1-20 although her teen numbers are hit and miss but they've been doing odd and even and she has no understanding at all when I was trying to help her with homework.

They aren't teaching her the skills she needs to move past a 1C IMHO.
Phases 2-4 are intended to be taught in reception phase 5 in Year 1 and phase 6 in Y2 ... she needs the alternative ways to write the sounds (phase 5) to read more challenging texts.

I am not a teacher. My son is in Reception in pink book although I think he is more capable. There are lots of things why the teacher keeps him in pink level, the biggest I think that he is not English and he does not understand everything in English that is why his comprehension is not as good as should be comparing with his reading and spelling (but his comprehension in his native language is above average -my opinion). So I had a discussion a couple of times with the teacher (no result). I was searching on the internet and I found two useful (I think useful) links that I use at home to improve his reading until the teacher will accept his true reading Level.

One of them is for phonics and I think this site is brilliant:

Have a look at them and if you think they are good you can use them at home with your child.

Thanks hun ill have a look, my little girl was on pink till year one and has been on red now since middle of year one but she has never read a red band book fluently, she still has to sound out and there are still words in these books what she can't read, I know she's not ready to move up.
