both Dcs are quietly getting on with their homework, no prompting and being very industrious

DD1 has even asked for her english comprehension book so she can get some extra practise in

Yes we have had a similar thing.
Dd went on sleepover for friend's birthday last night..back at 8.30 for maths tuition at 9.
She is now tidying her bedroom and plans to do assessments afterwards.

If ds comes back from football and picks up a book, I will feel I am in a parallel universe. [ grin]
