Hi, just wondering if anyone knows if there is any free online test or something that can give a rough guid as to a readers level.

Have googled it a bit but all I seem to find are teachers packs etc. don't want anything really detailed just an idea of the colour. My daughters school do a completely different reading system than anything else I have seen (a real mix of books) and I want to get suitable books from the library. Not too hard or easy.

Or maybe I should go back to school to sort out my spelling :)

Could it be reading recovery levels that your child's school use? My DD's school use these - numbers 1 -24 - and I don't have a clue how they correspond to ORT levels.

It could be they are numbered but they seem to be books from all different schemes. And on the same number she can have 3 different coulors from the same make of book. And some will be 1 line per page easy books and others will be 3 longish stories to one book. it makes no sence to me at all.
