Stages/colours of reading books

Are they set stages for all schools?

Dd was on purple, now on green, my sister mentioned that wasnt far away from being a free reader?! I'm clueless here!

I presume you mean lime rather than green. And yes, although the reading journey sort of starts around this point in many ways Grin.

Hmm, Its definitely a green band, says stage 5, yet shes been on purple?! Odd, will speak with her teacher tomorrow Smile

The colours are confusing! Oxford reading tree has different colours for their stages. There are the national curriculum colours, which are the circles on the side of the ORT newer books, and start off pink, red, yellow, blue. My son's school also have their own colour levels and put their own stickers on the si of the books. I concentrate on the national curriculum colours, so i know what to pick him up from the library.
