Julian's Primary School SW16 - a good choice?

Julian's is my closest school (3 min walk, no roads to cross) so we hope to get DD1 in. She will probably be the youngest in her year. I am hearing that all the recent change and expansion has been disruptive and things are a bit chaotic. Can anyone share their recent experiences and overall level of satisfaction with the school please? I'm not sure about the rest of the choices of state schools in the area (hitherfield, streaham wells) and private school (perhaps Alleyn's) would be a big financial stretch.
It woudl be really useful to know some recent expeiriences. thanks!

My son is in year 1 at Julians and my daughter just started this September- she almost certainly is one of the youngest children and she has settled in very well. I am delighted with the school. Although I have two children at two different sites it really is not a great problem. The school are trying very hard to make any disruption minimal and I think the long term benefits of a new school for our children out way any disruption. As I have discovered, choosing a school for your children is a very individual thing, so I can only speak personally. I think Julians is a very nurturing school and I would very much recommend it.

hi bmmm, thanks for your comment. i think it makes sense for us to have it as 1st choice. must be strange having yours one at each site though!

I have friends with DC at Julian's and they love it.

Streatham Wells is brilliant but you won't stand a chance of getting in if you live 3 mins walk from Julian's as it has a tiny ctchment. People like Sunnyhill, there have been Mn-ers with DC happy at Hitherfield. Dunraven will be opening a Reception class in Sept 2013 as the start of being and 'all through school' or something - Dunraven is a very good school, so worth looking at that.

Bumping... DD got in, 1st yr at wolfington rd site then to Streatham, v glad and relieved, I have a nice warm feeling about it. Would be nice to meet other mums with kids starting this year as I think there are no others from her nursery preschool going to Julian's

Hi doireally. Just found this thread as I was looking for tips for afterschool care for my DS who is starting in September. We are West Norwood campus so don't think they will be in the same class, but would be happy to meet up so we have a few familiar faces at the school gate.

Hi Sparky, I'm in the area and have seen a poster at St Luke's church in West Norwood for an afterschool club there (non-church-related I think, just using the premises). If Julian's doesn't already have a club or it's full, you might want to check it out.

Thanks pinkdelight Julian's doesn't have their own club so recommends Nanny Bee - the one you saw at the church. When I spoke to them before they thought they would be able to fit DS in part time but not full time so just wondering what other options there may be.
