Teacher using phone in class

I've been told by another Mum that her DD says the teacher uses her phone while in class. I'm pretty gobsmacked to hear this and not quite sure what to do with this information. I kind of assumed that this would be a big no-no for teachers.

Obviously I have only heard this 2nd hand and it has come from a 6yr old but if it is true, what should I do, if anything?

Schools have phones that staff can access? When did that happen?

Born2bemild · 30/09/2012 19:28

I could manage, but can't think of a good reason why I should not have my phone in my bag to check in my break or lunch.

We're not allowed phones in my school because of cp.

I only ever need a phone when I've left mine at home

I always had mine on silent and checked it at breaks. I have done supply in lots of schools and never heard of it not being allowed. If that was the case I simply wouldn't tell them!

It's good to read all these comments as I have been worried today by something similar, my 7yr old and two of his friends came home from after school club where they informed us that the teacher that was supervising the session was "on her mobile phone and not watching us" which led to a lot of messing about according to them. I felt concerned as I also assumed mobiles wouldn't be allowed in lessons because of safeguarding but now can see there would be valid reasons for a mobile in class.
