Uniform stuff with School logos?

My DD is starting reception this year...only had a meet the teacher thing so far...don't start full time till October. I have bought uniforms for her (grey pinafore with white shirt and black shoes). However at the meet the teacher thingy the Head said that the cardigan with school logo, sports kits and book bag were compulsory from the uniform shop as the Governors have deemed them so. Also that she can only wear a black or grey coat to school?! Why on earth does the coat which is not worn inside make a heap of difference.

My DD will not wear a cardigan...she hates them, thinks they are uncomfortable and itchy...I have an extremely hard time to get her to wear long leaves on shirts even when it is cold out.

Why on earth does she have to have something that she will never ever wear? What will happen if I don't buy it. Ok sports kit....I may have to get. But book bag and cardigan?

ed i spent ages researching this and so did my friend who is a school.govorner after our school.changed the uniform.twice in four years! there is a website withe the info on dfe one. will try and find it and link later but am on my phone and getting kids ready for school, tho have one poorly one still in bed.

anyway we successfully challenged the schools new uniform, all logo etc and goveners researched and conceded that non logo but right olours was legally what they could enforce but childten at primary age cannot be excluded or disciplined in any way for wrong uniform (school ie ht can speak to the parents)

your school were wrong and you should have taken it further tho i can see why you didnt. we had a massive group of parents complaing which helped!

Really 5? Thankyou - I have looked and looked on the Dfe but cannot find this info anywhere. It was the ACE helpline that told me they could enforce it.

Seems to be a lot of confusion.

The logoed book bag will cost approximately £4. Just buy one, ffs.
You seem to have a huge chip on your shoulder regarding the school your child has been allocated, which is a shame because you will not make her settling in any easier by insisting she looks different to the other children.
If it's a Catholic school, they can and will enforce the uniform policy. Do you want your dd sent home for refusing to wear the correct items?
You sound like a pita, sadly it's your daughter who will bear the brunt of your "principles".
They're driving you out of the country, indeed! Get over yourself.
