Horse riding after school club?

Will it work? I'm thinking of trying to set one up with the help of my local riding school but not sure how easy it will be? I think the kids would love it but I think it may be a logistical nightmare, any thoughts? Would you as a parent, contribute for your dc to do this after school?

It sounds like a good idea in theory. I don't see why it couldn't work, if you can get it at a price that plenty of parents can afford. Have you tried asking the parents to see what kind of level of interest there is? Have you approached the riding school yet?

Interesting idea - you may want to post in Tack Room as well.

DD rides her own ponies after school although it is quite difficult as she has after school clubs (sports and cooking) and matches. Also as homework increases there is less and less time for everything.

Some of the downsides would be:

a) keen children may have their own ponies and/or do Pony Club already
b) could be very expensive compared to other "clubs" which school can provide for nothing.
c) insurance problems for little ones
d) presumably they would need to provide some of their own kit - helmets, body protectors, jods, boots?

May be worth seeing if children are already members of one of the Pony Clubs where they don't need their own ponies (some of DDs school friends do this one day a fortnight).

My daughter has just started riding lessons through her after school club, the lessons are ran by one of her teachers. The drama teacher takes 10 pupils by mini bus to the riding centre after school and we pick up after a 2 hour lesson.

There is a huge demand in my daughters school, and she was realy lucky to be one of the few picked.

We need provide nothing, but we had the bits already as she rides with friends some weekends.
