I've just seen the new persons app advertised on the home page and wondered if it would worth purchasing for DD.

DD spends some time on the reading eggs - sight words app and the pocket phonics one although spends most of her iPad time on temple run

Can any one recommend the persons app,we did read the persons books that we were sent to review by MN.

It looks like the app is not so much sounding letters out and is based around putting the sounds togeather?

If DD sees CAT we sound out C A T reads CAT but with CURE the U doesn't read the same as it sounds, I understand the RE sounding like r er but....

I realise I now sound like a 5 year old!

Aw come on! I'm not wanting DD to be super brilliant or anything, I just want a helpful app to keep her amused for 10 minutes that doesn't involve jumping walls and collecting coins!!

cure would be c-ure. The letters ure represent one sound.

Thank you Feenie, I have been sounding out individual letters and doing the basic. Cat, mat, sat etc

Will the school tell me how to group letters togeather maybe?

DD is 5 and can pick out key words, thanks to the egg sight words app and us reading books everyday.

I'm interested in how it all fits togeather.

There are phonemes (sounds) altogether.

Feenie · 11/09/2012 22:27

Sorry, that said 44 phonemes before it disappeared!

Feenie · 11/09/2012 22:29

Lots of schools now have phonics evenings early in Reception

Thanks Feenie
