Am new to all this, DD only 3 so not doing any real phonic/reading stuff except some jolly phonics songs at day nursery. I am confused though because we all have different accents. I am from the SE and say barth, grarse, skool; living in the midlands she says "grass, bath and skoowell" (the last being particularly hideous)

Are the sounds taught regionally?

Confused....

we live in midlands and say grass bath and scoowl. dd is taught b-a-th, g-r-a-ss, s-c-oo-l. she is not taught to say scoowl as its incorrect and spelling mistakes are gently corrected.
