We currently moved in Hertfordshire. My child 5years old has not been allocated a school.
Now we can make a contact with LA only by email as they are not allowed to talk private details on the phone as they said. Besides it takes over 2 weeks to get the reply.
If someone has experience how they will make a contact with a parent when the place appears. I mean they replied to us a week ago my child is 2nd on the list.
Does Hertfordshire County let parents know by email? Or post? Or phone?

When did you apply for a place?

marshmallow16 · 07/09/2012 18:43

August is not a good time to apply and it often takes a while before you get an answer. My guess is that they want to see which schools have places available before making an offer. Quite often parents will move away, go private, decide to home educate or similar and won't bother to tell the school, so a school which thought it was full finds it actually has places available.

If you don't have an offer by the end of next week I would get pushy and threaten to refer them to the LGO unless they come up with an offer.

Thank you for the advice.
Yes, will wait a little bit more. We just hope my dc will be offered our prefered local school, at least not miles away...
We live in Watford appling for reception.
