It is DS's first day back today. After spending all last year racing against the clock we set off this morning to realise it was only 7:40 not 8:40! luckily we only live up the road so turned back before we were seen. i'm a little bit eager for school to restart
DD starts Friday so I might add anotjer blunder then Blush

I was late for pfb's first day as I had not factored in there being nowhere to park in a mile radius.

I completely forgot about getting DD2 some new shoes!!!

She is very hard wearing on her school shoes & has had a new pair every 6 months for the last 4 years (having grown like Topsy.. 6" since Y 7 & now Y11!!) This pair have lasted a little longer as her growth spurt has finally slowed down. They are pretty tatty though nothing a good polishing ouldn't disguise

In my defence the bloody hunt for school trousers in her long legged size took forever!

Not me, but when dd1 started juniors and dd2 started infants, we were getting dd1 ready to go, and dd2 had an inset day.
As we came out of a house we spotted another family who was new to the area, who had the same ages of children. Unfortunately for them they'd got the schools muddled, and had the younger one ready for school.

Cue tears from both of the dc when we went across to tell them, as the dc2 was looking forward to school and dc1 wasn't. Felt very sorry for them. Sad

I had to start searching for DD's arts apron this morning. It normally lives in the PE kit and we got it home for the holidays. We used it for a party and then put it somewhere.

It took me a while to locate it.

I still haven't found DD's reading diary. The current hope is that the school took it out of the book bag and she will get a new one.

DD was very comfortable in her uniform end of June so I decided not to buy anything. Tested the winter one last week and she grew A LOT. Obviously M&S is sold out and I just hope they will re-stock soon.

I didn't put knickers out for DD yesterday morning assuming she'd want to choose her own, only she didn't and went to school without any on AND she had PE Blush

Snurk, that's a good one, OP. Usually save that one for when the clocks change.

One Monday, dragged DC, including very moany DS ("I'm so ill, I'm so ill" ; "Shush you'll be fine"; "But I feel so bad mummy!"; "Shush, you'll be fine") up to school one morning only to find out it was staff training so school closed. Sheepishly waved at another parent who made same mistake. Good job school was off as I found DS covered in chickenpox next morning.

Ours went back on Tuesday, DD in Y1, DS in Y4. It wasn't until DD came out and complained that she'd had nothing to drink all day that I remembered that from Y1 they have to take in a water bottle to fill up at school, and I'd forgotten DS's as well! Oops!

Ummm. Turned up a day early with a very bouncy DD. It was the first day of term but reception children didn't start until the day after. Didn't realise at all, put her in the queue with her friends (village primary, R, 1&2 in same class). None of the other mum's with older kids and reception children pointed out my mistake. Teacher had to! One very disappointed DD who won't let me live it down. We even tried telling her it was a practice run. Thankfully she bounced in the following day without a backward glance.
